Cindy Anderson Earns Our Endorsement

After completing our endorsement process, including PAC Board Assessments as well as membership voting, we are excited to share the news. We are proud to endorse Cindy Anderson for the District 8 (at-large) position.  Cindy has a decade of experience in various volunteer leadership positions serving AISD.  Her awareness of the varied community perspectives as well as critical data position her to immediately benefit the district on the dais.

With 5 open school board seats up for election this November 8th, it may seem strange we are only endorsing one candidate.  Of the 5 seats up for election, only 2 of them are contested.  Amber Elenz, Yasmin Wagner, and Ann Teich are running unopposed.  This will be the second 4-year term for Amber and Ann. Yasmin was appointed to the board about a year ago, and without an opponent is poised to serve out the remaining 2 years of Mr. Schneider’s term.  Austin Kids First Action is committed to the setting a high standard for our endorsement.   While there were 2 candidates running in District 2, there wasn’t a clear leader at the end of our endorsement process. As we have done in past elections when there wasn’t a clear front runner, we did not endorse in the District 2 race.  People living in East and Southeast Austin can visit our webpage to learn more about the candidates before heading to the polls.  Our assessment and rational are posted online for all candidates who completed a questionnaire.
